The world's finest flax grows in a narrow stretch of northern France, and the finest linen looms sit in Italy. Vercelli brings the two together: French flax yarn, spun to 80 lea, woven in Italy to a standard very few mills in the world can hold. We are proud to be among the first in India to bring these world-class fabrics to you.
Why 80 lea matters. Most linen shirting is woven at 60 lea. Every step up in lea means a finer, longer, more evenly spun yarn — and a fabric that drapes instead of hangs. At 80 lea, Vercelli's shirting is featherlight on the skin yet holds a crisp, deliberate line. It is the difference between linen that looks relaxed and linen that looks considered.
Built to hold its shape. Long-staple yarn in a high-density weave gives this fabric its rare double character: a soft, cool hand feel with real structural integrity. A shirt cut from this stays sharp through a full day in the heat. The weave breathes and wicks the way only pure linen can, while resisting the slack, tired look that lesser linen falls into by afternoon.
A colour story worth exploring. Cheerful pastels in yellow, peach and pistachio. Earthy browns and olives. Deep, formal navy, charcoal and black. Each shade is dyed to the same depth and clarity you would expect from an Italian mill.
What to make with it. Shirts, dresses, tops, kurta-pyjamas, co-ord sets — anywhere you want the fabric itself to be the statement. A little imagination goes a long way with a cloth this good.
